Breaking Down the Technology you Need

While it appears that most people have embraced the digital age, it’s not true of everyone. If you are one of those people who haven’t embraced it, but are thinking about surrendering yourself to the digital age, then there are essentials that you must have.

There are items out there that are overkill and unnecessary for the consumer, but others that are right up your alley. The question is: which are the things you need, and what are the things you need to pass on? Here is a rundown.

Smartphone

If you are a person who’s out and about a lot, then the smartphone is probably for you. These phones can surf the web, check email, write email, listen to music, and watch videos. Oh, and it can also make phone calls too. It’s not essential, but it’s a great device to have.

HDTV

This could be considered essential. The cost is heavier, but it’s worth it if you are someone who tends to spend a lot of time in front of your TV. Most of the cable channels come in high definition. It’s exactly where the future of the technology is going and so if you are looking for an upgrade at all, now is the time.

Blu-Ray Player

This isn’t an essential item. While most of the movies are converting to Blu-ray, there are plenty of ways to watch a movie without a Blu-Ray player. In the next three or four years everything will be Blu-Ray, but for now this is an item that most people can pass on.

E-Reader

This is a very cool product, but unless you are someone who reads a lot, then it’s not a necessary item. These books can be downloaded to your home computer anyway. Pass on this great, but ultimately useless, technology.
